Two hours to transform your leadership? Start here.

Published: 26 February 2025

"If you only had two hours to dedicate to study, what would be the most worthwhile modules to complete?" A journalist recently posed this question to me, and it got me thinking. In our fast-paced hospitality world, time is a precious commodity. So, how can managers make the most of it when it comes to professional development?

Let’s be honest, we all know that leadership training is vital. But carving out the time? That's the real challenge. At Allara Global, we've designed a comprehensive suite of courses for emerging leaders, broken down into four key areas: Lead Yourself, Lead Communications, Lead a Team, and Lead Business Operations. Our aim? To equip you with the new-age fundamentals of a versatile, people-driven, and effective leader in our beloved industry.

But if you’re pressed for time, where do you start?

The foundation: Lead yourself

Here's the thing: leadership always begins with you. Regardless of your experience, a strong foundation in self-awareness is non-negotiable. That's why, if you only have a couple of hours to spare, I'd strongly recommend diving into our "Lead Yourself" modules.

Why? Because in my experience, both as an educator and a leader in hospitality, I’ve seen a recurring pattern. Managers often jump straight into managing others before they've truly mastered managing themselves.

Think about it. How many times have you heard (or said!) "My team isn't performing" or "We need to improve our culture"? Often, the root cause lies in the leader's own self-management and leadership skills. If you're struggling to adapt to new environments or get the best out of your team, it's time to look inward.

The power of self-awareness

Our "Lead Yourself" course utilises progressive self-assessment methods to help you identify and understand your natural abilities and motivations. This isn't just theory; it's about practical, actionable insights that you can apply immediately.

These modules, designed to be completed in roughly 1.5-2 hours over a few weeks, allow you to work at your own pace. By applying these principles directly to your goals, you'll see tangible results and be able to track your progress effectively.

More than a tick-box exercise

We don't believe in "tick-box" training. Our online modules are designed to be a convenient and impactful way to kickstart your leadership journey. They're flexible, adaptable, and perfectly suited to the ever-changing nature of our industry.

In hospitality, we understand that flexibility is key. Our online training reflects that. You can fit it around your busy schedule, ensuring that your professional development doesn't take a back seat.

Immediate impact, lasting results

By focusing on "Lead Yourself," you'll gain a deeper understanding of your leadership style, improve your self-management skills, and ultimately, become a more effective leader. This isn't just about ticking a box; it's about making a real difference in your career and your team.

So, if you're looking to make the most of your limited time, start with yourself. Invest those two hours in "Lead Yourself," and you'll be amazed at the impact it has on your leadership journey.
